Hello everyone,
In our efforts to make this something more than a "Club-Med" sailing trip, when we are in the Dominican Republic we plan on doing a week of volunteer work. We hope that this will give all of us a chance to experience more than just the tourist features of the countries we are visiting and we are looking forward to sharing our energy and skills with others. To help us accomplish this, there is an organization called Orphanage Outreach that has a program set up for family volunteers. Though their program we will be helping out at an orphanage and in the surrounding community in Monte Cristi.
Over the past months many of you have supported us with you comments and interest, now we would love it if you would consider supporting our efforts financially by making a donation to Orphanage Outreach. Any donation, from $5.00 to $500 would make an incredible difference in the lives of the children at the orphanage.
To donate you can do so through Orphanage Outreach's web page
www.orphanage-outreach.org/estrella.php
Use the Find a Volunteer to Sponsor link and search for "Jacob-Dolan"
Then follow the steps provided.
If you would rather send a check, please do so by making it out to Orphanage Outreach, and mailing it to Peter's mother,
Jacquie Dolan.
951 Laguna Rd
Pasadena, CA 91105
(She will cull together whatever checks she receives by the end of February and submit them together to Orphanage Outreach.)
We will be sure to share our experience with you here on this blog.
Thank you for your support,
Peter, Eliza, Josephine, Catherine, Jeremiah, and Xavier

Oh boy!!! I sense another contest on the blog!!!All we need now is a guest appearance from a Jerry Lewis like celebrity to help all the lurkers out there get in the mood to do some donating. I noticed from the orphanage website that each member of the Ohana crew has his/her own fundraising page. Let's see now; who was the nicest to me when we were in Puerto Rico????
ReplyDeleteThis could be fun.......
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteCatherine, Olivia got your postcard the other day. The timing was perfect. She was mad at me because I (finally) made her cut off the necklace that you'd made for her. It was getting tight around her neck but showing no signs of breaking. We were afraid she'd get decapitated! Then last night, I had a dream about you. We were hugging you and telling you how much we missed you. So I decided I'd better check in on you guys today. Since you've been on our minds so much, we made a donation in your name. Good luck out there. We really do miss you all!
